Day 15: A Kingdom Mindset #21 Day Purity Challenge

Luke 22:24-30
24A dispute also arose among the disciples as to which of them would be considered the greatest. 25So Jesus declared, “The kings of the Gentiles lord it over them, and those in authority over them call themselves benefactors. 26But you shall not be like them. Instead, the greatest among you should be like the youngest, and the one who leads like the one who serves. 27For who is greater, the one who reclines at the table or the one who serves? Is it not the one who reclines? But I am among you as one who serves.
28You are the ones who have stood by Me in My trials. 29And I bestow on you a kingdom, just as My Father has bestowed one on Me, 30so that you may eat and drink at My table in My kingdom, and sit on thrones, judging the twelve tribes of Israel.
Jesus came to establish His Kingdom on earth and was imparting his way of ruling into his disciples. They often thought more of how an earthly kingdom was conducted, where importance, status, luxury, and significance were held highly. However, Jesus wanted to train them in a new way, imparting into them the servant’s heart, such as what He demonstrated before them.
To bestow something on someone, in this text, means that Jesus gave a gift to his disciples and made a covenant with them. Jesus has done the same with all of us, where He has given us a portion, or allotment of His Kingdom so that one day we will be known by Heaven and be rewarded for our service by reclining at the table of His Kingdom. What an honor and privilege. Jesus even recognizes His disciples for standing by Him, through His trials, letting us know that he sees us and knows our works for Him.
Jesus told His disciples in John 15:14-16,
"You are My friends if you do what I command you. No longer do I call you servants, for a servant does not understand what his master is doing. But I have called you friends, because everything I have learned from My Father I have made known to you. You did not choose Me, but I chose you. And I appointed you to go and bear fruit—fruit that will remain—so that whatever you ask the Father in My name, He will give you."
We were chosen for His Kingdom to bear fruit, to carry His mission, and to live out His life. He has withheld nothing from us. He gave us everything the Father gave Him. He poured out Himself like a drink offering and sacrificed His life with joy so that we may enter into an abundant and full life. We believe this for everyone else, but it is for you first to receive, then you will be able to share it with others.
I pray that the heart and mind of Christ will be imparted into you, through His word and through encountering His presence. In the name of Jesus, I pray that you would know your significance to God and live as His servant and offspring here on earth just as Jesus did.
