Prepare for your Heart Exam

Our spiritual heart is the place from which everything in our lives flows. It is our inner man formed of emotions, thoughts and will. Without salvation and regeneration (renewal) of our hearts, we will be hardened to God’s word and His will.

It saddens me when we as humans hide our intentions from each other because it creates confusion in relationships. Our default is to lie, blame, and resist to protect ourselves. Even though we can be skilled at hiding our true selves, God knows us and cannot be deceived.

A response to this knowledge would be to just surrender and confess, but instead we hide or run in fear. As a child of God, God no longer wants us to fear, He wants to be our surgeon. Even with the biggest of messes, God is so patient, gentle and merciful with us until we come to wholeness. Remember this is HIS JOB. You cannot change by yourself nor can you be fixed by people in their own strength.

Even as a nurse, doctor, therapist, or pastor we cannot do what we do without the direction of the Holy Spirit. God is the manufacturer of mankind and guides us to the right course of treatment.

My prayer is that we no longer hide in fear, but would surrender to God’s process of refinement. God cannot take us higher without initiating this with us. As we grow in God, He has to enlarge our heart’s capacity. Did you know it takes capacity to obey? Did you know it takes capacity to love? Did you know it takes capacity to move forward in God? Let God initiate this process with you, so that you will be ready to receive all of His promises and excel at what He has called you to do.
