When our Bridegroom is Delayed...We Wait in Faith

Though many of us single women are waiting on our earthly bridegroom, our ultimate hope is to see our Heavenly Bridegroom, Jesus. Whether we enter marriage or not, our heart should remain single to Christ as we are eagerly awaiting His return.
We must get real with ourselves and determine our motive for serving God. Is your faith based on what God can give you or do you really love Him for who He is?
Jesus asked Peter three times, “Peter, Do you love me?” Jesus had to show Peter that love was what will sustain Him as He was being commissioned as an under-shepherd to the sheep of Christ. Following Christ will cost us everything and the agape love of God is the only thing that will sustain us through hard times of suffering.
Your suffering may be waiting on your God-ordained marriage. Your suffering may be that you are hungry for the things of God, but those around you are not. Your suffering may be overcoming the battles of your flesh. Whatever your suffering may be, Jesus promises to never leave you alone in it. He just asks that you wait on Him.
Waiting on God does not mean we sit and do nothing. Waiting involves active faith, stirring of our affections for Christ and constant visitation to the throne of our King. This is how Jesus will “know us” from others.
Jesus has left us the comfort of the Holy Spirit to teach, guide and lead us to truth. That relationship with the Holy Spirit has to be cultivated to see the fruits of the Spirit manifested in us. Fellowshipping with the Holy Spirit will reveal who Jesus really is and will invite us into constant encounters with His love.
Practice inviting the Holy Spirit into your life through this method…
· Secure a spot with the Holy Spirit and invite Him in your heart/in the room
· Begin to worship Him in song, dance and thankful prayers
· As you begin to feel the fire, pray in the Holy Spirit
· Then speak out what you hear, praying His will down to earth
· Take notes to remember what He speaks in prayer so that you can apply it in faith throughout the day
Prayer for a Heart of Love toward our Heavenly Bridegroom
Father I pray that we will find our place in you. I pray that we will serve you out of a heart of love and not a wayward heart. God give us a desire for righteousness. Give us a desire for your Kingdom. Let us give ourselves wholly unto you. Lord keep pursuing us with your unfailing love. Let your promises be fulfilled in our lives. Whatever doors are open to the enemy that are causing delays in our lives, let us take authority and close the door. Give us strength to carry the cross you gave us at salvation. Let us know that our reward is sure when we diligently seek you. Father I thank you and I praise you for choosing us for such a time as this. I pray you will keep our minds, hearts, bodies and souls in perfect peace. In the name of Jesus, Amen.
